A respectful, small-group visit to a traditional Maasai homestead (boma) just outside Mto wa Mbu. Learn about daily life, pastoral traditions, family structure, and beadwork from your hosts. You’ll be welcomed by an elder or family representative, tour the enkaji (houses), see livestock enclosures, and—if you wish—join in song, dance, or a short beadwork demo. We follow local etiquette at all times and ensure your visit directly benefits the host family.

  1. Meet in Mto wa Mbu for a short briefing on etiquette and cultural sensitivities.
  2. Transfer to a nearby Maasai boma across Maasai land (scenic drive).
  3. Warm welcome by the host family; introductions and overview of customs.
  4. Guided tour of the homestead: house construction, livestock care, and daily life.
  5. Beadwork demonstration with an option to try a few stitches (materials provided for the demo).
  6. Optional song & dance with hosts (photos welcome with consent).
  7. Q&A time and an opportunity to purchase beadwork directly from the makers (fair prices).
  8. Farewell and transfer back to Mto wa Mbu base.
