WIldbeest Migration

The wildebeest migration is one of the most spectacular wildlife events that occur in Serengeti National Park. It is an annual cycle of movement where over 2 million wildebeest, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of zebras and gazelles, migrate from the southern Serengeti in Tanzania to the Masai Mara in Kenya and then back again.

The migration is driven by seasonal rainfall patterns, and the wildebeest move in a clockwise direction in search of fresh grazing and water sources.

To witness the wildebeest migration in Serengeti, it is best to plan your
trip between January and March when the wildebeest are calving in
southern Serengeti. During this time, the predators are also very active,
and there are plenty of opportunities to see them in action.
